Are You Truly Maximizing Just In Time?

Many organizations struggle to schedule prescriber appointments within 3-5 days.  MTM has helped hundreds of organizations maximize Just In Time (JIT), resulting in decreased no-shows, increased capacity and the ability to get consumers in quickly, when they are ready.

Do You Really Provide Same Day Access? The Importance of Optimizing SDA

Many organizations think they are effectively providing Same Day Access (SDA), but in fact, they might not be. Organizations often try to implement SDA on their own, only to find that something isn’t working. And even for organizations that were initially trained in SDA implementation, effectiveness and fidelity can erode over time. Organizations that don’t optimize SDA lose clients who drop out of care when they have to wait, they lose clinician time due to no-shows, and they lose the opportunity for revenue. Fortunately, these challenges are solvable.

Using Data to Survive the Transition to Managed Care

SPQM has provided data and analysis to seven statewide initiatives. In addition, more than 400 health care providers in 27 states – from mental health, substance abuse and intellectual/developmental disabilities providers to managed care organizations, and state departments of human services – have used SPQM to implement new practices and achieve truly meaningful change. In 2012 Kansas selected three managed care organizations (MCOs) to manage all Medicaid services beginning January 2013. This came in the wake of several reductions in Medicaid reimbursement rates. The combination of costing information and outcome measurements (from DLA-20) that the Association of Community Mental Health Centers of Kansas had available in SPQM, allowed the Association members to provide the state with objective data regarding the actual cost of providing services and the potential impact of any proposed funding cuts.

Statewide EHR Collaborations to Drive Efficiencies

Though it might not be obvious at first, documentation is one of the most important components of delivering effective behavioral health services. Electronic Health Records (EHRs) can be a critical tool in maximizing efficiencies, both in terms of staffing and revenue. But finding an EHR that matches an organization’s needs can be a source of great frustration for many providers.

Supporting CCBHCs and Driving Transformational Change

CCBHCs and other innovative providers are focused on diversifying and expanding their payer mix to adapt to a rapidly changing and competitive healthcare marketplace. Payers, in turn, are imposing new requirements as part of the shift from volume to value. Current CCBHCs and those who are positioning for the future must understand their true costs and maximize efficiencies while fostering a culture of excellence aimed at achieving the ultimate goal – making life better for the people you serve.

Building Psychiatric Provider Capacity Through More Efficient Use of E&M Codes

The nation is experiencing a capacity crisis when it comes to psychiatric services. In the midst of calls for more funding to address the shortage of psychiatric doctors, one solution is readily available today. Proper use of Evaluation and Management (E&M) codes by psychiatrists will increase productivity – at rates similar to other healthcare specialists – and help to shift psychiatric departments from being a loss leader to, at a minimum, covering true costs. By aligning psychiatric use of E&M services with broader medical practices, providers can expand the availability of psychiatric care without necessarily adding new staff.
